Sample requirements

Blood: one EDTA (lavender-top) tube — 2-5 mL for children and adults, 1-2 mL for term infants, 0.5-2 mL for neonates (0-28 days). Buccal: loose swabs or dispenser box; stable at room temperature up to 7 days (preferred), 60 days maximum. Extracted DNA: 10 ug for international clients, ideally >=50 ng/uL in >=100 uL of pH 8.0 low-EDTA TE buffer; label with concentration and volume. Ship ambient, overnight, for Monday-Saturday arrival. NOT accepted after allogeneic bone marrow or stem cell transplant, or within 4 weeks of transfusion; hemolysed or clotted specimens are rejected. Buccal cannot be used for proband ultraRapid tests. GeneDx supplies collection kits.
